WiFi Guru ("we", "us", "our") provides internet connectivity services in Kenya, including home internet and public WiFi services. We are committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy in accordance with the Data Protection Act, 2019 (Kenya) and other applicable laws.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. It applies to our websites, customer portal, payment services, support channels and the internet services we provide.
2. Information We Collect
- Contact and account details — your name, phone number, email address and installation address when you sign up for our services or contact us.
- Payment information — mobile money (e.g. M-PESA) transaction references, amounts and payment history. We do not store your mobile money PIN or full card details.
- Technical and usage data — device MAC address, IP address, connection times, bandwidth usage and network diagnostics needed to operate and secure the network.
- Support communications — messages you send us via WhatsApp, web chat, email or phone, so we can resolve your issues.
- Social media data — if you contact or interact with us on Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp, we receive information such as your profile name, user ID, phone number (for WhatsApp) and the content of your messages, comments or reactions.
- Website data — basic analytics and cookie data when you browse our website.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, install, maintain and improve our internet services.
- To process payments, manage your subscription and send service notifications.
- To respond to support requests and communicate with you about your account.
- To monitor network performance, prevent fraud and keep our network secure.
- To comply with legal obligations, including lawful requests from regulators such as the Communications Authority of Kenya.
- To send you marketing about our plans and offers, where you have agreed to receive it. You can opt out at any time.
4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We only share it with:
- Service providers who help us operate our business (e.g. payment processors, messaging and support platforms), under appropriate confidentiality obligations.
- Regulators, law enforcement or courts where we are legally required to do so.
- Professional advisers, or a buyer in the event of a business sale or restructuring, subject to this policy.
5. Data Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes described above, to meet our legal and regulatory obligations, and to resolve disputes. When data is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymise it.
6. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. No system is completely secure, so we encourage you to keep your account credentials confidential.
7. Cookies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some site features.
8. Facebook, Instagram & WhatsApp
We use apps and business tools provided by Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, including the WhatsApp Business Platform) to communicate with customers, respond to messages and comments, run our social media pages and send service updates you have opted in to receive.
- When you message us on these platforms, we process the data described in Section 2 solely to respond to you, provide support and manage your service.
- We do not use data received from Meta platforms for any purpose other than serving you, and we do not sell it or share it with third parties except as described in Section 4.
- Your use of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp is also governed by Meta's own terms and privacy policy, which we do not control.
9. Data Deletion Requests
You can ask us to delete the personal data we hold about you, including data collected through our Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp apps and channels. To do so:
- Email info@wifiguru.ke with the subject line "Data Deletion Request", telling us the name, phone number or social media handle you used with us; or
- Send us a deletion request on WhatsApp at +254 769 506 882.
We will confirm receipt, verify your identity, and delete your data within 30 days, except for records we are legally required to retain (such as payment and tax records), which we will delete once the retention period expires.
10. Your Rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to:
- Be informed about how your data is used.
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, including direct marketing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page, with the "Last updated" date revised accordingly.
